Video Games: Then & Now

When entertainment was in the early stages of expanding into late 20th century technology, Video Magazine was the first consumer electronics publication to cover home video games. Deeny Kaplan, reviewed them in her "Video Test Reports" column in the late 1970s. Now she's Executive VP and Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at The Kitchen, a Miami dubbing studio, where videogames are very much on the agenda.

Early home video games had simple scoring, basic 2D graphics, short and repetitive play. Today, they have cinematic visuals, huge worlds, online multiplayer and constant updates. "Never would I have thought that the game testing I did in the late 1970s in the living room of my one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan would have evolved to the sophisticated multi-layered delivery and game play systems that exist today."
