The Miami-headquartered dubbing specialist captures the legendary TV producer's memoir, signaling a broader commercial push into spoken-word and author-led recording services.
The Kitchen has expanded its audio storytelling operations, partnering with legendary television producer Barney Rosenzweig ("Cagney & Lacey") to record the audiobook version of his upcoming memoir, "Before and After Cagney & Lacey." The project, scheduled for print release this fall via McFarland Publishers, is being recorded at The Kitchen’s Miami facilities.
The move underscores the studio’s broader commercial strategy to apply its quarter-century of voice recording, translation, and post-production infrastructure to the rapidly growing global audiobook sector, broadening its client base across publishers, authors, and media personalities.
By leveraging its experience in multi-language dubbing and dramatic performance capture for international film and television, the global studio is positioning its facilities as a full-service audio partner for both traditional screen content and expanding digital spoken-word formats.
“An audiobook is much more than simply recording someone reading a book. It is about capturing the personality, emotion, timing and authenticity of the storyteller. That is exactly what we do every day for actors, directors and performers working in television and film. We are thrilled that Barney has trusted The Kitchen to bring his story to life in audio,” stated Deeny Kaplan, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of The Kitchen.
“Recording at The Kitchen has been a wonderful experience. The people here understand that recording isn't just about the equipment. It's about the performance—and making sure the listener feels that connection,” added Barney Rosenzweig, Producer and Author.
